Treatment plans that show the patient's cost before they decide

AcceptIQ, part of DentalIQ™, builds a plain-language treatment plan from the patient's own newest insurance check, with an estimate of what insurance and the patient will pay for each procedure. The estimate is worked out by DentalIQ's rules, never by the AI. The dentist sets the priorities, and the plan prints only after it's approved.

Why it matters

An ADA Health Policy Institute study in Health Affairs found that more people report financial barriers to dental care than to any other type of health care, and that cost was the top barrier even for adults with private dental insurance.

How it works

  1. 1It starts from the insurance check. The plan uses the patient's newest electronic eligibility check. If that check failed or the coverage is inactive, AcceptIQ says so instead of building a plan.
  2. 2Add the procedures. Search 64 common CDT codes. The tooth field follows the procedure: full mouth, a quadrant for scaling and root planing, an arch for dentures. The fees are yours; nothing is preset.
  3. 3DentalIQ's rules work out the estimate. Coverage percentages, the deductible (applied once), and the annual maximum left after each procedure, plus fee-schedule amounts where the payer returned them. A figure the payer didn't give shows as "Not estimated" with a warning.
  4. 4The dentist sets the urgency. Recommended, Urgent or Optional, per procedure. The AI never decides it.
  5. 5The AI writes the explanation. What each procedure generally treats and what can happen if it waits, in plain words. It only mentions a patient's condition if the dentist's notes say so.
  6. 6Approve, then print. The team can edit the wording before approval. The plan prints only after it's approved, and the approved version is exactly what the patient takes home.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't guarantee what insurance will pay. The printed plan says the payer decides what it actually pays, and that frequency limits, waiting periods and downgrades aren't included in the estimate.
  • It doesn't guess missing figures or set clinical priorities.
  • It doesn't track whether a plan is scheduled or completed, and it doesn't measure acceptance.
  • It doesn't include financing or payment plans.
  • It doesn't write the plan back into your practice software.

Where the results go

Every plan is logged: who approved it, when, and which parts the team changed from the AI's draft.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the insurance figures come from?

From the patient's newest electronic eligibility check in InsureIQ, never from the AI.

What if the payer didn't return a coverage percentage?

That line shows "Not estimated" with a warning, instead of a guessed number.

Can we change the AI's wording?

Yes. The team can edit the wording before approving, and the approved version is what prints.

Does the AI decide what's urgent?

No. Urgency is the dentist's call, set per procedure.

Does it work with my practice software?

Alongside it. The plan is built in DentalIQ from the patient's insurance check and your fees, and isn't written back into Open Dental, Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
